Yarraville Weekly Skate Classes

Running during school term ⦿ Term 2 2025 starts April 22nd.
Casual attendance:
$30 per skater, siblings in the same class/week $20
Term Pass:
$297 for unlimited classes over 11 weeks.
With the term pass, your child can attend as many classes as they’d like at their level, on any available day. Attend 3 classes a week if they like!
Tuesdays @ Pilgrim Uniting Church Yarraville
4pm (40 minutes): Intermediate - average age: 6
4.40pm (40 minutes): Beginner - average age: 8
5.20pm (40 minutes): Mixed level - age 8+, adults welcome
Wednesdays @ Donald McLean Reserve Playground
4pm (40 minutes): Beginners - average age: 8
4.40pm (40 minutes): Intermediate - average age: 8
Thursday afternoons @ Yarraville Senior Centre
4pm (40 minutes): Beginners - average age: 6
4.40pm (40 minutes): Higher Intermediate/Advanced - average age: 9
5.20pm (40 minutes): Mixed level - age 8+, adults welcome
Explanation of levels:
Beginner: just starting out, still wobbly/nervous, finding balance, able to stand on skates and roll forward slowly. Skills covered: falling safely, plow stop, turning, basic skating technique, bubbles. This class is not suitable for first-time skaters. Please book a private lesson, or learn at home with the online program if your/your child has never skated before.
Intermediate: For those who are confident skating forward and able to control their speed. We learn more advanced skills like transitions, crossovers, footwork and many more!
Advanced: For those who have been skating with me for a while, confident with forwards and backwards. Know their edges, comfortable skating on one leg. We learn much harder things like spreadeagle, backward crossover, waltz jump.

FAQ
Do I /my child need their own skates?
Ideally yes, this class is designed for those who have some/little experience on roller skates. If you do need to hire, please let us know prior so we can get it ready. Skate hire is $5
My child/I have roller blades or inline skates, can I join the class?
Yes they may join beginners class. Although some skills don’t translate into inline skates, a lot can be learnt still. Intermediate level and above are specific to roller skates.
Do parents have to stay during the class?
If your child is comfortable without you. You may leave the venue, however keep your phone on for emergencies.
Do we have to come every week?
This is a casual class. You can come when you can.
Can I come without booking. and pay on the day?
