We’re trialling a dedicated roller skating workshop just for homeschooling families — a supportive session where children can learn real skating skills while still having the freedom to play, move and connect with others.

BYO roller skates and inline blades welcome.
(No scooters or other wheeled equipment please — they behave very differently on the floor and create safety issues.)
If there’s enough interest, we’d love to make this a regular daytime homeschool session.

Pop-up Roller Skating at Yarraville Festival
Pop-Up Roller Skating for Kids — Yarraville Festival 🛼
We’re bringing roller skating to the streets of Yarraville!
Our temporary fenced rink will be set up right in the festival, so kids can step straight in and have a go. No bookings needed — just turn up, grab a helmet, and roll. Our friendly coaches will be inside the rink helping beginners learn to balance, move and stop, so even first-timers are very welcome.
Throughout the day there’ll be music playing, fun skating games, and special performances from our talented coaches and students.

30-minute supervised skate sessions
All skill levels welcome (most festival skaters are beginners!)

Come and Try (All Ages) - 2026 Get Active Expo
Booking required
A fun, inclusive, drop-in roller skating session for all ages and abilities. Participants can arrive at any time during the two-hour window and skate at their own pace. Experienced roller skating coaches will be present to provide basic instruction, safety guidance, and personalised tips for beginners, as well as skill support for more confident skaters. The session focuses on confidence-building, balance, safe falling techniques, and having fun in a supportive environment.

What to bring: A limited number of roller skates and protective gear will be available to borrow on the day, on a first come, first served basis. You may need to wait if your size is not immediately available.
BYO skates welcome. Please note only skates with the rubber stopper in good shape will be able to be used in order to avoid the court from being scratched. Bring socks and a water bottle.
